Up until now the prevailing notion dictated that Telco clouds exclusively existed as private clouds within network operators’ controlled silos.
Now with the rise of AWS, Azure and Google Cloud there is the emergence of hybrid cloud solutions. And with this the inherent characteristics of the 5G core network are prompting a reevaluation of what type of Cloud is best for telco use cases. For as long as telco clouds have been established, network operators have maintained them within isolated silos designed to meet the rigorous operational needs and regulatory standards inherent in the telecom industry. Currently, telcos continue to resist full public Cloud deployments and remain on self-hosted or ringfenced Cloud infrastructure.
